How to Stop Sand and Gravel From Falling in Minecraft With Physics Toggle

Toggling Physics Around Your Player

When you want to place sand, gravel, or dragon eggs in mid-air and have them stay put, you need to disable physics in the area where you are building. Stand near the spot where you plan to place the blocks, then run the command /togglephysics. This flips the physics state for the region around you. Once physics is off, any sand or gravel you place will hover in place instead of dropping.

Building Floating Structures

After running the command, place your sand or gravel blocks as normal. They will remain suspended, which is ideal for floating islands, sky minigames, or decorative builds that would normally collapse. If you need to work in a different area, move there and run /togglephysics again to toggle the state for that location. Keep in mind that the toggle applies around the player, so if you walk far away, the effect may not cover your entire build. For large projects, toggle physics in each section as you go. When you are finished and want normal block behavior back, simply run /togglephysics once more to re-enable physics. This makes it easy to switch between creative floating builds and standard survival mechanics without restarting the server.
