How to Reduce Server Lag With Physics Toggle
Why Physics Causes Lag
Minecraft servers constantly calculate block updates for falling sand, flowing water, and other physics-related events. On busy servers or large builds, this can cause noticeable lag. The Physics Toggle Plugin lets you disable these calculations in specific areas, which reduces the load on your server.
Toggling Physics to Improve Performance
To reduce lag, identify areas where physics calculations are heavy, such as large sand deserts, gravel pits, or water features. Stand in or near that area and run /togglephysics. This turns off physics for the surrounding region, stopping blocks from falling and fluids from flowing. As a result, the server no longer needs to process those updates, which can improve tick rate and overall smoothness. You can toggle physics off in multiple areas by moving around and running the command each time. Keep in mind that the effect is centered on the player, so you may need to cover a wide area by toggling in several spots. If you later want physics back on, simply run /togglephysics again. This is a simple way to optimize performance without modifying the server's core settings. Use it in lag-prone zones or during large building projects to keep the game running smoothly.
