Optimize Pholas Shaders Performance on Mid-Range Hardware
Adjust Shader Settings
Pholas Shaders is demanding, but you can reduce the load without losing the core visual appeal. Open the shader options menu (usually by pressing a key in-game or through your shader mod's settings).
Look for these adjustable parameters:
- Godray intensity: Reduce the brightness and density of light beams. Lower values still show godrays but use less processing power.
- Shadow distance: Decrease the render distance of shadows. Closer shadows still look good and cost less performance.
- Reflection quality: Lower the resolution of water reflections. They'll remain visible but render faster.
- Ambient occlusion: Disable or reduce this effect if your frame rate drops significantly.
Monitor Frame Rate
After each change, observe your FPS in a varied area—near water, under trees, and in open sky. Aim for a stable frame rate you can play with comfortably. Small reductions in each setting compound into significant performance gains without making the shader unrecognizable.
If performance is still poor, consider using a lighter shader pack, or upgrade your graphics card for the full Pholas experience.
