Deciding When to Repair vs. Replace Tools
Evaluating Repair Efficiency
The durability tooltip helps you decide whether repairing a tool at an anvil is worthwhile or if you should craft a new one instead. Tools with high remaining durability are good candidates for repair, while nearly-broken tools might be better replaced.
Making Repair Decisions
1. Check the tooltip of a damaged tool to see its exact durability
2. Consider the cost of repair materials (experience and additional items at an anvil)
3. If the tool has significant durability remaining, repair it to extend its life
4. If durability is very low and repair costs are high, crafting a new tool may be more efficient
5. For enchanted tools, repairing preserves the enchantments, making repair more valuable
This mod eliminates guesswork about tool condition. You can see precisely how much life remains, allowing you to optimize your resource spending. Enchanted tools with low durability are almost always worth repairing, since recreating the enchantments would be expensive or impossible.
