Adjust Lighting Intensity for Your Playstyle

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls settings or shader menu). Look for PathMax Shaders in the list and select it to view available tweaks.

Customize Light Bounce Strength

Locate the path tracing or light bounce intensity slider. Increasing this value makes light reflections more prominent across blocks, creating brighter, more vibrant scenes. Decreasing it preserves darker atmospheres and reduces eye strain in extended play sessions.

Fine-Tune Shadow Softness

Find the shadow softening option to control how harsh or gentle shadows appear. Higher values create dreamy, well-lit environments ideal for building and exploration. Lower values maintain more contrast and definition, useful when you want clearer depth perception in caves or forests.

Test Your Changes

Move between different biomes and lighting conditions—caves, forests, and open sky—to see how your adjustments feel across varied environments. Shader settings often look different depending on time of day and surrounding blocks. Save your preferred configuration once you find a balance that feels right for your gameplay style.
