Use No-Tick View Distance to Explore Without Lag

Enable Distant Chunk Rendering

The no-tick view distance feature lets you render chunks far beyond your normal render distance without ticking (updating) blocks, entities, or redstone in those distant areas. This means you can see terrain from far away without the performance cost of simulating it. Enable this in the mod settings and set your no-tick distance higher than your regular view distance.

Understand the Limitations

Distant chunks render visually but don't process game logic. Mobs won't spawn, crops won't grow, and redstone won't function in no-tick areas. This is intentional—the feature trades interactivity for visual range. Use it for exploration and scouting, not for building or farming in distant locations.

Combine with Fast Travel

No-tick view distance shines when traveling quickly through new terrain. Pair it with fast travel methods (horses, boats, elytra) to scout large areas without generating lag spikes. Once you land and want to interact with an area, it will tick normally as you approach.
