Using the PaperDoll to Check Your Gear and Pose at a Glance
Beyond looking nice, the doll is a quick visual readout of your current state, which is useful when you are deep in a fight or building.
Reading your loadout
Glance at the doll to confirm what you are actually holding. It is easy to think you have a sword equipped when you switched to a pickaxe or a torch. Because the doll mirrors the main hand and off-hand, it doubles as a check that your shield or totem is in the off-hand where you expect it. Armor visibility on the doll lets you spot a missing chestplate or boots after a death or an enchantment swap without opening your inventory.
Reading pose and animation
The doll copies your movement, so it reflects sneaking, sprinting, swimming, and attacking. This is handy for confirming state: if you are unsure whether you are actually sneaking (which affects block placement and mob detection), the doll's crouched pose tells you instantly. In third-person or when your own model is obscured, the doll gives you the same information in the corner. Keep it sized large enough to read the held item but small enough not to distract — a mid-size doll in a quiet corner is the sweet spot for using it as a status indicator rather than decoration.
