Create Cohesive Lighting in Your Build
Plan Your Lighting Scheme
Before placing light sources, decide on a color theme. PaintBound's colored lighting system means torches, glowstone, and other emissive blocks will cast tinted light. Consistent use of similar light sources creates visual harmony.
Use Light Source Variety Intentionally
Different blocks emit different colored light. Torches typically cast warm tones, while glowstone and lanterns may emit cooler or brighter hues. Mix these deliberately—warm lighting for living spaces, cooler tones for technical areas or mystical zones.
Layer Lighting for Depth
Combine multiple light sources at varying distances and heights. The brushstroke shading makes overlapping colored light blend naturally, creating depth and atmosphere. Shadows cast by the semi-realistic shadow system add dimension to your build.
Test in Different Times
View your build at day and night. PaintBound's effects are most dramatic in darkness, so ensure your lighting plan works when the sky is dark. Adjust placement if certain areas feel too bright or too dim relative to your vision.
