How to Keep Packet Fixer Working Correctly in a Large Modpack

Install It in the Right Places

Packet Fixer only helps when every side of the connection has it. In singleplayer that means your client. On a server that means the server plus every connecting client. If a player joins without it, their connection can still fail on oversized data even though everyone else is fine.

Keep It Updated With the Pack

When you update other mods, update Packet Fixer too. A newer mod may start sending larger payloads, and an older Packet Fixer build may not cover the new pattern. Update the whole pack together rather than one mod at a time.

Reduce Data at the Source

Raising limits is a safety net, not a cure. To keep a big pack stable:

1. Avoid stacking thousands of items into a single container if a mod allows it.

2. Break up mega-machines that hold huge internal inventories.

3. Keep entity counts in one area reasonable.

4. Clear out unused chunks with heavy builds.

Check Compatibility

Packet Fixer is designed to improve compatibility between mods, so it generally plays well with others. If you still see packet errors after installing it, the conflict is between two specific mods, not with Packet Fixer itself. Use the log to identify the pair and report or separate them.

Confirm It Is Loaded

Open the mod list in-game and confirm Packet Fixer appears. If it is missing, the pack is not loading it and none of the above protections apply.
