Build a Flush Water Elevator with Hidden Soul Sand

Setup

Create a clean-looking vertical water tube without exposing the bubble source underneath your floor.

1. Place a soul sand block on the ground where you want the elevator to start

2. Place a copper grate directly on top of the soul sand

3. Build your water column upward from the copper grate (use water source blocks or flowing water)

4. The upward bubble effect will pass straight through the grate, carrying you and mobs upward

Design Tips

Your floor now looks seamless—visitors won't see the soul sand mechanism. The copper grate acts as both a functional component and a decorative floor block. You can use any oxidation stage of copper grate (unoxidized, exposed, weathered, or oxidized), and waxed variants work too. This is especially useful in bases where you want clean aesthetics without sacrificing elevator functionality.
