Finish Columns with Pillar Capitals
Understanding Capitals
Pillar capitals are decorative blocks that sit atop vertical columns, providing a clean architectural transition between the column and the structure above. The mod includes variants like Granite Capital that match different stone types.
Installation Process
1. Build your column: Stack stone blocks vertically to your desired height. Use materials like Granite, Diorite, or other vanilla stone variants.
2. Select matching capital: Choose a capital variant that complements your column material.
3. Place the capital: Position the capital block on top of the column. It will align automatically.
4. Connect to arches or beams: If your capital supports an arch or beam, place those blocks directly above the capital.
5. Add base details (optional): Place a plinth or base block at the column's bottom for additional visual weight.
Styling Tips
Capitals work best in symmetrical arrangements. Use them to frame doorways, support vaulted ceilings, or mark important architectural divisions. Mixing capital styles across different columns adds visual complexity to large halls without appearing chaotic.
