Maximize Ore Hunting in the Ultra Edition
Why Ultra Changes Your Mining Strategy
The Ultra edition doesn't just increase ore frequency—it expands the Y-level range to Y=0–Y=256. This means ores spawn across the entire world height, not just the traditional deep caves and low layers. Your mining strategy should adapt to this expanded range.
Effective Hunting Techniques
Mine at multiple heights. Don't assume you must dig to bedrock. Valuable ores like diamonds and ancient debris can appear anywhere in the expanded range, so strip-mine at Y=64, Y=128, or even higher.
Use caves efficiently. With ores more frequent and spread vertically, cave systems become goldmines. Explore from top to bottom rather than focusing only on deep sections.
Adjust your branch mining. If you prefer branch mining, create horizontal tunnels at different Y-levels. You'll encounter more ores per tunnel due to increased frequency, so you can cover less ground and still gather resources quickly.
Watch for nether ores. Ancient debris and nether quartz also benefit from the expanded generation, making nether mining more rewarding across all heights.
