Manage Server Performance with Ore Plus
Understanding the Performance Impact
Increased ore generation means more block data and potentially more player activity around ore-rich areas. On servers, this can affect chunk loading and entity processing, especially if many players mine simultaneously.
Best Practices for Servers
Choose an appropriate edition. x2 is gentler on performance than x4 or Ultra. If your server has limited resources, start with x2 and upgrade only if performance remains stable.
Distribute mining activity. Encourage players to mine in different regions rather than clustering in one area. This spreads chunk loading across the map and prevents performance bottlenecks.
Monitor chunk activity. Use server tools to watch which chunks are loaded most frequently. If mining hotspots cause lag, consider creating designated mining zones away from builds.
Balance with other mods. If running multiple mods that affect world generation or entity spawning, test the combination on a test server first. Ore Plus stacks with other generation mods, which can compound performance costs.
Consider world size. Larger worlds with more players benefit more from x2 than Ultra, as the increased ore density is distributed across more territory.
