Find and Locate Ore Deposits
Spotting Deposits in the World
Ore deposits appear as small concentrated areas in the overworld where ores cluster together naturally. They generate during world creation and are scattered throughout your terrain. Unlike regular ore veins, deposits are visually denser and occupy a defined space.
Search Strategy
Deposits can spawn at any Y-level where their corresponding ore normally generates. For most overworld ores, this means exploring caves, mining shafts, and open mining areas. Look for areas where you see multiple ore blocks of the same type in close proximity—this is often a deposit.
If you're searching systematically, branch mining or cave exploring will eventually reveal deposits. Some players find them while strip mining or during normal exploration. The deposits blend in with regular ore generation, so you won't see a special marker or indicator—you'll recognize them by the concentration of ore blocks.
Confirming a Deposit
Once you've found an area with clustered ore, begin mining it. If the ore regenerates after a short time or continues to spawn as you mine, you've found a deposit. This confirms the location is renewable and worth returning to for infinite resources.
