Maximize Frame Rate While Keeping Good Visuals
Disable Heavy Features First
Sun rays (god rays) and high-resolution shadows consume the most GPU power. In shader options, disable sun rays entirely and set shadow quality to low. This typically gives the biggest frame rate boost.
Reduce Ambient Effects
Turn off ambient occlusion and reduce bloom intensity. These effects add visual polish but aren't essential to the shader's core appeal—realistic lighting and water still work without them.
Lower Render Distance Carefully
Decreasing render distance in Video Settings helps, but Optimized Prime is designed to work at normal distances. Only reduce this as a last resort; instead, prioritize shader setting adjustments.
Test in Demanding Areas
Frame rate varies by location. Dense forests and water-heavy areas stress the shader more. Launch your world in a flat plains biome to establish a baseline, then test in complex terrain to see real-world performance.
Monitor and Iterate
Use F3 debug screen to watch FPS. Optimized Prime scales across a wide range of hardware—finding your sweet spot takes a few minutes of testing.
