Get Better Night Vision Without Losing Darkness
Understand Night Lighting Philosophy
Optimized Prime intentionally makes nights darker than vanilla Minecraft to improve immersion. The shader adds realistic moonlight and starlight so you can navigate without torches, but caves and unlit areas remain genuinely dark.
Use Torches and Light Sources Effectively
Torchlight is now more visible and realistic. Place torches strategically to create pools of warm light. The shader's realistic lighting makes torches feel more useful and atmospheric than in vanilla.
Adjust Brightness in Shader Options
In shader settings (Shift + O), look for an overall brightness or exposure slider. Increasing this slightly brightens nights while preserving the dark atmosphere. Avoid maxing it out, as this defeats the purpose of realistic lighting.
Enable Night Vision Potion Properly
Drink a Night Vision potion for genuine visibility without relying on shader settings. The potion works as intended with Optimized Prime and provides a clear gameplay solution for dark exploration.
Consider Your Monitor
If nights appear too dark, your monitor's brightness setting may be low. Adjust your display brightness before changing shader settings—this preserves the intended visual experience.
