Adjust Shader Settings for Your Hardware
Access the Shader Menu
Press Shift + O while in-game to open the Optimized Prime shader options menu. This is where you control visual quality versus performance.
Key Settings to Tweak
Shadow Quality: Lower this setting if you're experiencing frame drops. Reducing shadow resolution frees up GPU memory while keeping the soft shadow effect.
Water Reflections: Disable or reduce reflection detail if water looks laggy. The shader still maintains clear water appearance at lower settings.
Sun Rays (God Rays): This feature is performance-intensive. Toggle it off entirely if you need more frames, or reduce its intensity slider.
Ambient Occlusion: Disabling this darkening effect around block edges can improve performance on older laptops without drastically changing the look.
Finding Your Balance
Start by lowering one setting at a time and check your frame rate. The shader is designed to scale well—even with minimal settings enabled, Optimized Prime maintains better lighting than vanilla Minecraft. Test your changes in different biomes and times of day, as some settings affect dawn/dusk more noticeably than noon.
