How to Fix Low FPS After Installing Optimized FPS Modpack
Confirm the Mods Are Actually Loading
Open the Mods button in the game menu and verify the performance mods are listed and enabled. If a rendering optimization mod is missing or disabled, you are running closer to vanilla performance and the pack is doing nothing for you. Also check that you launched the correct profile — a wrong profile can load a different mod set entirely.
Reduce the Settings That Cost the Most
1. Lower render distance first; it has the largest single impact on frame rate.
2. Reduce simulation distance separately if your CPU, not your GPU, is the bottleneck.
3. Turn off fancy graphics options such as smooth lighting overhauls, fancy leaves, and cloud rendering.
4. Lower the maximum framerate cap only if you are chasing stability rather than peak numbers.
Check What Is Outside the Game
If FPS is still poor, the bottleneck may not be Minecraft. Close background applications, especially browsers and recording software. Make sure your game is using your dedicated GPU rather than integrated graphics in your system's graphics settings. Finally, confirm you have enough allocated memory — too little causes constant garbage collection stutter, while far too much can also hurt. Adjust allocation in small steps and retest in the same location each time so your comparisons are fair.
