Fighting with Hammers

Hammers function as weapons and can be used to attack mobs. While they don't have special combat mechanics like knockback or area damage, they deal respectable damage and are durable enough for extended fights.

Combat Strategy

1. Equip your hammer like any weapon and approach mobs normally.

2. Attack by clicking on the mob. Damage is comparable to a standard pickaxe or similar tool-weapon.

3. Use durability wisely—if you're actively mining and fighting, your hammer's durability matters. Consider carrying a spare hammer or switching to a dedicated weapon for mob-heavy areas.

4. Combine with armor and strategy—hammers aren't superior to swords, so use them as a backup weapon or when you're already carrying one for mining.

When to Use Hammers for Combat

Hammers are most useful when you're exploring caves or mining and encounter mobs unexpectedly. They're versatile enough to handle a few skeletons or zombies without requiring a weapon swap. For dedicated PvM (player vs. mob) combat, a dedicated sword is still more efficient.
