Switching Between Old and New Shield Animations

Toggling the Animation Style

The Old Shield Animation Mod allows you to switch between the reverted animation and the current game default. This is useful if you want to compare the two styles or temporarily use the newer animation.

In-Game Toggle

Access your mod configuration menu (typically through the Mods screen or a dedicated config key). Look for the Old Shield Animation Mod settings and find the option to enable or disable the animation reversion. When enabled, shields will display using the pre-23w40a arm position. When disabled, the mod will not affect shield animations, allowing the default 1.20.3+ animation to display.

Testing Both Styles

Equip a shield in third-person view and observe the arm position. The old animation positions the shield arm differently compared to the newer version. Toggle the setting on and off to see the difference clearly. This helps you decide which animation style you prefer for your gameplay experience.

Note that changes take effect immediately without requiring a game restart in most cases.
