Adjust Shadow Quality and Distance
Access Shader Settings
Press Shift + O (or your configured key) to open the OD Horizon Shaders configuration menu. This overlay displays all available tuning options without pausing the game.
Configure Shadow Parameters
Look for shadow-related sliders, typically labeled as:
- Shadow Distance: Controls how far shadows render from your character. Lower values improve performance; higher values show shadows across larger terrain areas.
- Shadow Quality/Resolution: Adjusts shadow map detail. Higher settings produce sharper, cleaner shadows but demand more GPU power.
- Shadow Softness: Determines shadow edge blur. Increase for softer transitions, decrease for crisp edges.
Apply and Test
Adjust each slider incrementally and observe changes in real-time. Shadows on blocks and terrain should update immediately. If performance drops, reduce shadow distance or quality first—these have the largest impact on frame rate.
For low-end hardware, prioritize reducing shadow distance over quality. For medium systems, balance both settings to maintain smooth gameplay while keeping shadows visible and detailed.
