Optimize Shader Performance in Survival Mode
Start with an Appropriate Profile
Before exploring, select a shader profile matching your hardware. Check your FPS in different biomes—forests and caves are typically more demanding than plains.
Disable Heavy Features if Needed
If you're experiencing lag, open shader settings and disable or reduce:
- Shadow quality and distance
- Bloom and glow effects
- Ambient occlusion (if available)
- Reflection quality
Monitor Performance Across Environments
Different biomes stress your GPU differently. Test in:
- Dense forests (high leaf density)
- Underground caves (shadow rendering)
- Open sky areas (usually least demanding)
Balance Quality and Framerate
Aim for consistent FPS during normal gameplay. If you drop below your target (typically 60 FPS), lower one setting at a time and retest. This helps identify which features impact your system most. You can always increase settings later if performance improves.
