Creating a Custom Skybox with Nuit Mod

Building a Keyframe-Based Skybox

Nuit Mod replaces the vanilla sky with a skybox engine you configure through its own extensible format. Instead of a single static texture, you define a skybox as a set of keyframes. Each keyframe holds a sky state, and the mod interpolates between them, so transitions happen smoothly rather than snapping.

Keyframes can be driven by time of day or by other state changes, letting a sky shift gradually across a full day and night cycle. You can also apply rotation to the sky, so the rendered skybox moves rather than sitting fixed.

Beyond the sky itself, Nuit Mod handles custom fog and sunrise or sunset glow rendering, plus custom weather rendering. These are configured alongside the skybox rather than through separate systems.

The mod works on both Fabric and NeoForge, so the same skybox setup applies regardless of which loader you run.
