Adjust Shader Settings for Your PC Performance

Access the Shader Menu

Press Shift + O while in-game to open the shader options screen. This menu contains all performance and visual tuning controls.

Choose Your Performance Profile

NPC Shaders includes preset configurations for different PC capabilities. Select from the available profiles:

  • Low Profile: Recommended for older machines and potato PCs. Reduces shadow quality and bloom intensity while maintaining visual clarity.
  • Medium Profile: Balances visual quality with smooth performance on mid-range systems.

Each profile automatically adjusts shadow distance, bloom strength, and reflection detail.

Fine-Tune Individual Settings

Within your chosen profile, you can manually adjust:

  • Shadow Quality: Lower values reduce lag on weak GPUs
  • Bloom Intensity: Dial down the glow effect if framerates drop
  • Water Reflection Detail: Reduce reflection resolution for performance gains
  • Lighting Smoothness: Affects how soft transitions appear between lit and shadowed areas

Apply and Test

After adjusting settings, walk around your world to observe changes in real-time. Shadows, water, and glowing blocks update immediately. If you experience stuttering, lower shadow distance or bloom intensity further.
