How to Stop the Scroll Wheel From Changing Your Hotbar Slots

What the mod does out of the box

NoWheel Mod disables scroll-wheel hotbar switching as soon as it is loaded. If you installed it specifically because you keep accidentally cycling past your sword mid-fight, there is nothing else to configure — the default state is "wheel does nothing to the hotbar." Your mouse wheel still works normally in menus, inventories, creative tabs, and any other GUI where scrolling is expected; only the in-world hotbar selection is affected.

Confirming it is actually active

1. Enter a world and hold a few different items in your hotbar.

2. Scroll the wheel while looking at the world. The selected slot should not move.

3. Press your number keys (or whatever keyboard slot-switching you normally use) to verify those still work.

If the hotbar still changes when you scroll, the mod is either not loaded or has been toggled off — see the toggle guide. If scrolling does nothing at all, including in your inventory, that is a different problem and not something this mod causes.

Why players want this

Keyboard-only players often bind slots to keys and find the wheel redundant. The wheel is also easy to bump on a trackpad-style mouse or a worn encoder, which silently swaps your held item. Disabling it removes an entire class of mid-combat mistakes.
