Finding Ocean Monuments and Shipwrecks Underwater

Spotting Structures from Distance

With NoUnderwaterFog Shaders installed, you can now see ocean monuments and shipwrecks from much farther away than vanilla Minecraft allows. The removal of underwater fog gives you clear sightlines across large bodies of water.

How to Search Effectively

1. Travel to an ocean biome and swim or boat to deeper water away from land.

2. Look toward the horizon underwater — monuments appear as large dark structures, and shipwrecks show as wooden hull shapes.

3. Adjust your render distance in video settings if needed; higher distances let you spot structures sooner.

4. Swim downward gradually while keeping your eyes on distant shapes. The fog removal means you won't lose sight of your target as you descend.

5. Mark locations with beacons or waypoints once spotted, since structures can be far from your starting point.

Tips

Monuments are easier to spot than shipwrecks because of their size and distinctive shape. Shipwrecks blend better with the seafloor, so look for geometric wooden patterns rather than natural terrain. Night vision potions help, but aren't required with this shader active.
