Understand How the Notch Totem Saves You

Automatic Activation

The Notch Totem of Undying triggers automatically when you would take fatal damage. You don't need to click it or activate it manually — the mod handles this for you as long as the totem sits in your off-hand slot.

What Happens When It Activates

When the totem saves your life:

1. Your health is restored to a safe level

2. A custom pop-up animation displays on your screen featuring the Notch character

3. You receive temporary status effects that protect you briefly

4. The totem is consumed and disappears from your off-hand

Damage Types It Protects Against

The totem saves you from most fatal damage sources: fall damage, drowning, fire, explosions, and mob attacks. However, it only works once per totem — after activation, you'll need another totem in your off-hand to be protected again.

Recovery After Activation

After the totem saves you, take a moment to recover. You'll have brief invulnerability, giving you time to drink healing potions, move to safety, or retreat from combat.
