Equip the Notch Totem in Your Off-Hand

Finding the Totem

The Notch Totem of Undying functions identically to the vanilla totem. You can obtain it through:

• Looting Evoker mobs in Woodland Mansions
• Finding it in loot chests throughout the world
• Accessing Creative mode inventory and grabbing it directly

Placing It in Your Off-Hand

Once you have the Notch Totem:

1. Open your inventory (E key by default)

2. Locate the totem in your main inventory slots

3. Click and drag it to your off-hand slot — this is the small box to the right of your armor slots

4. Close your inventory

The totem now sits in your off-hand, ready to activate. You'll see the miniature Notch figure displayed in that slot. While equipped here, the totem will automatically trigger if you take fatal damage, preventing your death and displaying the custom animation.

During Combat

Keep your off-hand slot dedicated to the totem while exploring dangerous areas, fighting mobs, or mining deep underground. The totem requires no activation — it works passively whenever a killing blow would land.
