Rename Items Without Cost Restrictions

Renaming Previously Modified Items

Renaming an item in an anvil is normally cheap, but if that item has been repaired or enchanted many times, even a simple rename can become "Too Expensive!" The cost accumulates based on the item's modification history, not the complexity of the rename itself.

How to Rename Expensive Items

1. Place your heavily-modified item in the anvil's left slot

2. Leave the right slot empty (no materials needed for renaming)

3. Type your desired name in the text field

4. Check the cost—if it shows "Too Expensive!", proceed to step 5

5. Drop the item on the ground and pick it up

6. Return to the anvil and enter your name again

7. The rename operation should now be available

8. Click the output slot to apply the new name

Why This Happens

The anvil tracks an internal "repair cost" for every item, regardless of what operation you're performing. Renaming doesn't increase this cost, but it still respects the 30-level limit. This mod lets you bypass that restriction.
