Combine Enchantments on Items
Merging Enchanted Items
Combining two enchanted items in an anvil—such as merging a book with multiple enchantments onto a tool—can quickly become expensive. If you're trying to add a fourth or fifth enchantment to an already-enchanted item, you'll likely hit the cost limit.
Steps to Combine Expensive Enchantments
1. Place your enchanted item in the left anvil slot
2. Place the enchanted book (or second item) in the right slot
3. Observe the cost displayed
4. If the result shows "Too Expensive!", throw your main item on the ground
5. Pick it back up immediately
6. Return to the anvil and attempt the combination again
7. The operation should now be available—click the output slot
Stacking Multiple Enchantments
This technique allows you to layer many enchantments onto a single tool or weapon, even if the total cost would normally exceed the anvil's 30-level limit. You can repeat the drop-and-pickup process as many times as needed to keep combining enchantments.
