How to Tell Whether Not Enough Crashes or Another Mod Caused the Crash
The crash screen is not the cause
A common confusion: seeing the Not Enough Crashes screen makes players think this mod broke the game. It did not. Not Enough Crashes only catches the crash and displays it. The actual cause is named inside the report.
How to confirm
1. Look at the top exception line. If it references classes from another mod, that mod is the cause, not Not Enough Crashes.
2. Check the involved-mods list. Not Enough Crashes will only appear there if it is genuinely part of the stack, which is rare.
3. If you temporarily remove Not Enough Crashes, the game will simply close on the same crash instead of showing a screen. That proves the underlying crash existed already.
4. Compare with a vanilla-style crash: the same exception would appear, just without the friendly formatting.
Dealing with conflicts
Some mods that also handle crashes or errors can overlap with Not Enough Crashes. If you run another crash-handling or error-suppressing mod, the two may fight over who catches the exception. If reports look garbled or incomplete, try running only one crash handler at a time to see which gives clearer output.
Bottom line
Treat the Not Enough Crashes screen as a diagnostic tool. The mod's job is to keep you in the game and hand you the evidence; finding and fixing the real culprit is still your task.
