How to Change the Red Death Overlay Duration with /walksyredoverlayduration

The command

After you die, Minecraft flashes a red overlay across the screen. This mod lets you control how long that overlay lasts using a chat command. The syntax is:

/walksyredoverlayduration [num]

Replace [num] with the duration you want, measured in ticks (20 ticks = 1 second). The mod ships with a default duration already set, so you only need this command if you want it shorter or longer.

Step by step

1. Open chat and type /walksyredoverlayduration followed by your chosen number, then press Enter.

2. You should get a confirmation that the value was applied.

3. Die once to test the new timing. If the overlay feels too long, run the command again with a smaller number; if it disappears too fast, use a larger number.

4. The setting persists, so you do not need to re-enter it every session.

Picking a value

A very small number makes the red flash almost instant, which suits players who find it distracting. A larger number keeps the death feedback visible longer. Because the unit is ticks, doubling the number doubles the real-time duration — adjust in small increments until it feels right.
