Mining Amethyst Geodes and Other Underground Features
Locating Amethyst Geodes
Amethyst Geodes generate underground as rare, valuable structures. Without caves to stumble upon them, you'll need to mine strategically or get lucky during deep mining runs.
Finding Geodes
Geodes spawn at various depths but are more common in the lower underground layers. Listen for the distinctive sound of amethyst crystals when mining nearby. The outer layer appears as smooth basalt, which differs from regular stone. If you spot basalt while mining, investigate—a geode may be nearby.
Mining Other Underground Features
Mineshafts still generate and can be found by mining downward. Look for wooden supports and rail tracks.
Lava Pools appear naturally underground. Mine around them carefully to avoid falling in.
Ore Veins generate throughout stone layers at all depths. Strip mining or branch mining will expose them efficiently.
Harvesting Tips
Bring a pickaxe appropriate to your target material—wood for amethyst clusters, stone for ores, and iron or better for harder blocks. Use water buckets when mining near lava to stay safe.
