Troubleshoot Uneven Lighting or Dark Spots
Identify the Problem
If certain areas appear too dark, too bright, or have unnatural lighting transitions, check whether the issue is:
- Ambient light too low: Caves and enclosed spaces become nearly black
- Block light falloff too steep: Light from torches disappears too quickly
- Shadow settings too aggressive: Shadows appear harsh or block too much light
Adjust Lighting Balance
Open Shader Options and increase ambient light slightly to fill dark corners without making the world look washed out. If specific light sources (torches, lanterns) seem dim, boost block light intensity. For harsh shadows, reduce shadow darkness or enable softer shadow edges if available.
Test Different Areas
Move through caves, forests, and buildings to see how your adjustments affect various environments. Lighting that looks perfect in one location might need tweaking elsewhere. Make small incremental changes rather than large jumps—a 5-10% adjustment often makes a significant visual difference. If problems persist after shader adjustments, verify that your graphics driver is up to date, as outdated drivers can cause rendering inconsistencies.
