Adjust Brightness and Lighting Intensity

Access Shader Settings

Open the Shader Options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls menu under "Shader Options"). This opens the configuration panel where you can fine-tune how NightOwl Shaders lights your world.

Modify Lighting Parameters

Look for sliders controlling:

  • Overall brightness: Increase or decrease how much light illuminates dark areas
  • Block light intensity: Adjust how brightly torches, lanterns, and other light sources glow
  • Ambient light: Control the baseline lighting in caves and night environments
  • Shadow darkness: Make shadows deeper or softer depending on your preference

Apply and Test

After adjusting each setting, observe the changes in real-time. Move between lit and dark areas to see how your changes affect caves, night scenes, and indoor spaces. If the world feels too bright or too dark, return to the shader options and make incremental adjustments. Most players find a balance between visibility and maintaining the vanilla aesthetic by experimenting with 2-3 settings at a time rather than changing everything at once.
