Finding Ancient Debris Efficiently in the Nether

Optimal Search Strategy

Ancient debris spawns more scattered as single blocks throughout the Nether with this datapack, making it less clustered than vanilla. This means you'll find debris more consistently across different areas rather than in concentrated pockets.

Search at mid-levels: Focus your mining between Y-level 8 and Y-level 119 where ancient debris spawns most frequently. The expanded Nether height gives you more vertical space to work with.

Use branch mining: Create horizontal tunnels every 3 blocks vertically and mine in straight lines. Single-block spawns are easier to spot this way than in caves.

Check cave systems: With improved cave generation that stops before the lava ocean, caves are now safer to explore. Ancient debris can spawn on cave walls, so don't skip them.

Avoiding Lava Hazards

The datapack removes many impossible-to-cross lava barriers, but lava oceans still exist at lower levels. Stay above the lava ocean floor when possible, and bring water buckets for emergency situations. The taller Nether means you have more breathing room to navigate around lava flows.
