Troubleshoot Squids Still Looking Like the Original Texture
Common Causes and Solutions
Resource pack not enabled: Verify the pack appears in your Selected list in Resource Packs menu, not just Available.
Incorrect pack order: Move New Style Squid above any other packs that modify mob textures. Packs lower in the list override those above.
Cache not cleared: Close your game completely and reopen it. Minecraft sometimes caches textures and needs a full restart to reload resource packs.
Advanced Troubleshooting
If squids remain unchanged after these steps:
1. Delete the resource pack and reinstall it
2. Check that the pack file structure is correct (textures should be in a textures/entity/ folder)
3. Ensure no other installed mods or resource packs are conflicting with squid textures
4. Try the pack in a fresh creative world to isolate whether the issue is world-specific
If the problem persists, the pack may be incompatible with your current game version or other installed content.
