Restore Default Hearts While Keeping the Pack Installed
Temporarily Disabling the Pack
The quickest way to see vanilla hearts is to uncheck New Hearts in your resource packs menu without removing it. This keeps your settings intact while reverting to Minecraft's default red hearts.
Creating a Backup Configuration
If you frequently toggle between custom and default hearts:
- Duplicate your New Hearts folder
- Rename the duplicate (e.g., "New Hearts - Backup")
- Keep both versions in your resource packs folder
- Enable or disable each as needed
Editing the Pack Directly
For a permanent switch without uninstalling, you can replace the heart texture files with vanilla versions:
- Extract the default Minecraft textures from the base game
- Copy the vanilla heart PNG files into New Hearts'
textures/gui/heartsfolder - Reload the pack (F3 + T)
This overwrites the pastel colors while keeping the pack structure, so you can easily swap textures back later by restoring the original files.
