Protecting Your Inventory When Falling into Lava

Understanding Fireproof Protection

When you die in lava or fire, items without Fireproof will burn up and disappear permanently. Items with the Fireproof enchantment will survive and remain on the ground for you to collect.

Preparing for Dangerous Exploration

Before heading to the Nether or lava caves:

1. Enchant your most valuable tools with Fireproof

2. Consider enchanting a full set of armor for redundancy

3. Carry important items in a Fireproof-enchanted Shulker Box (1.18+)

What Fireproof Doesn't Do

Note that Fireproof only protects items from burning—it doesn't prevent you from taking fire or lava damage. Wear fire resistance potions or protective armor to stay alive. If you do die, your Fireproof items will be waiting safely where you fell.
