How to Reduce How Often Portals Spawn in the Overworld

Tuning Spawn Frequency

If random portals are appearing faster than you want, the spawn frequency is controlled in the config file alongside the spread radius. Lowering it means fewer spontaneous portals generate as you explore.

1. Fully close Minecraft.

2. Open the mod's config file from your instance's config folder.

3. Find the spawn frequency / spawn chance setting. It is a numeric value — the exact scale depends on your config, so read the comment next to it.

4. Reduce the value to make portals rarer. If the setting is a chance, a smaller number means less frequent spawning; if it is an interval, a larger number means more time between spawns.

5. Save and relaunch.

What Frequency Does and Does Not Affect

Spawn frequency governs new random portals. It does not remove portals already in your world, and it does not stop portals you build yourself from being detected and spreading. If you want to stop existing portals, use the four-coal-block method or lower the spread radius.

If portals still feel too common after lowering frequency, combine this with a smaller spread radius so each portal that does appear is less disruptive. Both settings live in the same file, so you can adjust them in one editing session.
