Optimize Performance While Using Shaders

Adjusting Graphics Settings

Shaders can be demanding on your GPU. Balance visual quality with frame rate by tweaking your video settings:

1. Open Options → Video Settings

2. Lower Render Distance if you're experiencing frame drops

3. Reduce Clouds quality or disable them entirely

4. Turn off Particles or set them to minimal

5. Disable Smooth Lighting if your shader doesn't require it

6. Set Graphics to Fast instead of Fancy

Shader-Specific Optimization

Many shader packs include their own performance settings. Access these through the Shader Options button in the Video Settings menu. Look for options like:

  • Shadow quality or resolution
  • Reflection detail
  • Ambient occlusion intensity
  • Water quality settings

Lowering these values can significantly improve frame rates. Start with lower settings and gradually increase them until you find your target frame rate. Neoculus's accelerated rendering helps keep UI and item rendering fast even with demanding shaders active.
