Understand How Web-Streamed Music Works

Automatic Downloading and Caching

MusicLayer can stream music directly from web links without requiring manual downloads. When a mod triggers a web-hosted track:

1. The mod provides a direct URL to an audio file

2. MusicLayer downloads and plays it in real-time

3. The file is automatically cached in your game folder

4. Next time the same track plays, the cached version loads instantly

File Verification

MusicLayer checks file hashes in the background to ensure cached music stays up-to-date. If the remote file changes, the mod detects this and re-downloads the updated version automatically. This happens without interrupting gameplay.

Storage Location

Cached web music is stored locally, reducing bandwidth usage and improving load times. You can safely delete cached files if you need disk space—they'll re-download when needed.

Requirements

Web streaming requires an active internet connection. If you're offline, only locally-stored music (from mod resource files) will play.
