Fixing a Sign Portal That Shows Red Text

Common Causes of Red Text

Red sign text almost always means the plugin rejected the destination or the player lacks permission. The most frequent cause is a typo in the world name — Multiverse world names are case-sensitive and must match exactly what the server has loaded. Another common cause is pointing at a world that exists on disk but isn't currently loaded by Multiverse, which the plugin can't teleport to. Finally, if you're not an operator or don't have the sign portal permission, the sign will show red even when the destination is correct.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

First, right-click the sign and read each line carefully, comparing the world name against your server's world list. Correct any spelling or spacing errors. Second, ask an admin to confirm the target world is actually loaded — if it isn't, they need to import or load it before the sign will work. Third, check your own permissions: if other players can use the sign but you can't, it's a permission issue, not a formatting one. After each change, save the sign and watch the color update. Green means fixed. If it stays red after all three checks, the destination itself is invalid and needs to be recreated.
