Couple multiple train units together for longer commuter services
Understanding train configurations
The CP 3150 and 3250 series support three coupling arrangements: single 4-car units, 3+3-car double units, or 4+3-car double units. The CP 2300/2400 series can run as standard 4-car trains or longer 4+4-car doubles. Choose your configuration based on your route's passenger demand.
Linking train cars in MTR3
When placing train units, position them end-to-end on the same track. Use the mod's coupling mechanics to link the front cab of one unit to the trailer cars of another. The connection points are built into the train models—align them carefully to avoid gaps.
Testing your consist
Once coupled, test acceleration and braking to ensure smooth operation. Longer double units require more track space for stations and junctions. Verify that your overhead catenary and pantograph setup accommodates the full length—Z-shaped pantographs may behave differently than diamond types when transitioning between sections.
