Separating Name from Breed

You might want a cat with a specific breed appearance but a custom name that doesn't include the breed keyword. This resource pack allows you to achieve this.

Steps

1. Find or spawn a cat of the breed you want

2. Use a name tag containing the breed keyword (e.g., "tabby") to lock in that breed's appearance

3. Use a second name tag with your desired custom name (without a breed keyword) to rename it

4. The cat will keep the breed appearance from step 2 and display your custom name

Important Notes

• Once a breed keyword has been applied, the cat's appearance is locked—subsequent name tags won't change it
• Only the first name tag with a breed keyword determines the cat's look
• You can apply as many non-breed name tags as you want afterward
• This is useful for creating named companions with specific visual styles
