How to Stop Subtitles from Blocking Your Crosshair or Hotbar
Pick an Anchor Away from the Center
Vanilla subtitles sit near the bottom-center of the screen, which is exactly where your hotbar and crosshair area live. The quickest fix is to choose a default position that moves them out of the way entirely — TOP LEFT, TOP, or TOP RIGHT keep subtitles well clear of the bottom of the screen where you look while mining, fighting, and building. Set the position in the config and restart.
Nudge with Deltas for Edge Cases
If a top anchor still overlaps something you care about, such as a minimap or a HUD element from another mod, use deltaX and deltaY to shift subtitles further toward a free area. Move them horizontally toward a screen edge or vertically toward the very top. Adjust in small increments, restart, and confirm with a subtitle visible in-game. The goal is a spot that stays readable without covering the crosshair, hotbar, or health and hunger bars.
Check Across GUI Scales
HUD elements scale with your GUI Scale setting, so a position that works at one scale may overlap at another. Test your chosen anchor and deltas at the GUI scale you actually play on. If you change resolution or GUI scale later, revisit the config and re-tune the offsets, since the same delta values will land subtitles in a slightly different place.
