How to Balance Zombie Villager Spawns on a Multiplayer Server

Why Balance Matters

On a server, a high zombie villager rate affects everyone. Too many can flood grinders, lag the server with extra entities, or trivialize villager trading. Too few defeats the purpose of the mod. The config value lets you pick a middle ground.

Editing the Server Config

1. Stop the server before editing configs to avoid overwriting changes.

2. Open the mod's config file in the server's config folder.

3. Adjust zombieIsVillagerChance to a value that suits your community. A moderate value keeps zombie villagers common but not overwhelming.

4. Save and restart the server.

Communicating the Change

Tell players what rate you chose so they can plan farms and trading halls accordingly. If some players want a higher rate for personal farms, they can't override a server-side config in multiplayer, so pick a value that works for the group.

Performance Tips

Large numbers of zombie villagers mean more entities pathfinding and more curing attempts. Keep mob caps reasonable, avoid giant unlit spawn areas near spawn, and encourage players to light up areas they don't want mobs in. If lag becomes an issue, lower the chance slightly rather than removing the mod, since even a modest increase over vanilla still makes zombie villagers noticeably easier to find.
