Creating a Custom Fossil Spawn Configuration

Understanding the Configuration Structure

More Fossils Mod uses JSON files to define where and how often fossils spawn. Each configuration entry specifies biome conditions, spawn rates, and rarity filters that determine fossil generation.

Setting Up Custom Biome Rules

Locate the mod's configuration files and examine the existing biome entries. You can create new rules by:

1. Identifying the biome ID you want to modify

2. Setting spawn frequency values

3. Adjusting the minecraft:rarity_filter for that biome

For example, you might increase fossil frequency in a specific biome you're developing or decrease it in biomes where you want fossils to feel like rare discoveries.

Testing Your Configuration

After editing, save your JSON files and reload your world. Explore the modified biomes to verify the changes work as intended. If fossils are too common or too rare, return to the JSON files and fine-tune the values. This iterative approach helps you achieve the exact fossil distribution you want for your gameplay experience.
