Adjusting Fossil Rarity for Your World
Accessing Configuration Files
More Fossils Mod stores its spawn settings in JSON configuration files. To customize fossil rarity, you'll need to locate and edit these files in your mod's configuration folder.
Editing Rarity Settings
Open the mod's JSON files and look for the minecraft:rarity_filter parameter. This value controls how common fossils are. Increasing the number makes fossils rarer; decreasing it makes them more common. Adjust this value to match your preferred difficulty and exploration pace.
Full Customization Options
Beyond rarity, the mod allows you to configure:
- Spawn frequency: How often fossils attempt to generate in chunks
- Biome distribution: Which biomes fossils can spawn in, and their relative frequency per biome
After editing your JSON files, save them and reload your world or restart the game for changes to take effect. Test your new settings by exploring and adjusting further if needed.
