Troubleshooting: Why Am I Not Getting a New Dragon Egg?

If you killed the dragon and no egg appeared, one of a few things is going on. Work through these checks in order.

Most common causes

  • You used /kill on the dragon. This is the number one reason. The mod explicitly does not trigger on command kills. You must defeat the dragon through normal combat.
  • The egg spawned but you didn't see it. Check the top of the exit portal carefully — it may be hidden behind blocks, or it may have already been pushed off by a piston or explosion.
  • You're on your first kill. The very first dragon kill gives the vanilla egg; the mod's extra-egg behavior kicks in on subsequent kills.
  • The dragon wasn't actually respawned. Make sure you placed four End Crystals on the portal frame and the dragon actually respawned before you fought it.

Fixes and prevention

  • Always fight the dragon legitimately — no command kills.
  • Clear the area around the portal before the fight so the egg has a clear spot to land.
  • Build a small containment wall around the portal to stop eggs from sliding off.
  • If you suspect the egg fell into the void, respawn the dragon and try again with a safer setup.
